The world’s most beloved Brooklyn bus driver returns when THE HONEYMOONERS SPECIALS, reuniting Jackie Gleason, Art Carney and Audrey Meadows, make their long-delayed home video debut on May 4, 2010. The two DVDs, THE HONEYMOONERS SECOND HONEYMOON and THE HONEYMOONERS VALENTINE SPECIAL, both in color and digitally remastered, will be released by MPI Media Group, each with an SRP of $14.98

HoneymoonersIn 1976, Jackie Gleason, Audrey Meadows and Art Carney reunited for the first of four ABC specials representing the final performances of their classic “Honeymooners” characters – shows that have never been released on any home video format. Hot-tempered Ralph Kramden (Gleason) and his level-headed wife, Alice (Meadows), are still living in their Bensonhurst walkup apartment (looking as it did in the 1950s but now in color), and Ralph is still driving a bus. His goofy old pal Ed Norton (Carney) is still working in the city sewers and is still married to the ever-patient Trixie (Jane Kean).

In SECOND HONEYMOON, it’s the Kramdens’ 25th wedding anniversary and Ralph plans to remarry Alice in a special ceremony at the Raccoon Lodge. However, the festivities become overshadowed by Ralph’s suspicion that Alice is pregnant — and Norton begins to teach him how to take care of a baby! Further adding to Ralph’s stress is the fact that his mother-in-law is visiting for a few days and Ralph must sleep in the kitchen.

In VALENTINE SPECIAL, Alice secretly plans to buy Ralph a suit for Valentine’s Day, but Ralph thinks she’s sizing him up for a coffin after he finds incriminating items, including a life-insurance policy. Believing Alice is seeing another man, Ralph gets his buddy Norton to join him undercover, dressed in drag! VALENTINE SPECIAL marked the final appearance of this legendary group of comic characters.

THE HONEYMOONERS SPECIALS DVDs present the shows in new digital transfers made from the original masters. Each disc also includes bonus “Color Honeymooners” sketches not seen since their original airing in the 1960s.
