Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has announced the Special Edition Blu-ray release of director Denis Sanders’ Elvis: That’s the Way It Is. The 1970 Elvis Presley documentary has been newly remastered and arrives in premium DigiBook packaging on August 12th.

Sanders’ “rockumentary” features the work of Academy Award-nominated cinematographer Lucien Ballard (The Caretakers, The Wild Bunch) and follows the August 1970 Las Vegas show’s development from rehearsal to stage. The film utilizes thousands of feet of materials and includes sequences added to capture Elvis’ performances with greater intimacy while providing a behind-the-scenes look into his creative process.

The Blu-ray edition of Elvis: That’s the Way It Is is presented in 1080p with DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround, and includes both the original theatrical cut and the retooled 2001 Special Edition version of the film. Extras are as follows:

  • Patch It Up: The Restoration of Elvis: That’s The Way It Is
  • 12 Outtakes: Song/Non-musical Sequences
  • 2001 Special Edition Cut
  • 1970 Original Theatrical Version
