Originating from the Japanese tokusatsu Super Sentai Series, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers began airing on the Fox network as part of the Fox Kids group of programs. Tremendously successful, the initial series lasted three seasons and the franchise has continued ever since. As of 2009, the Power Rangers franchise includes 17 television seasons, 15 different series and two theatrical films. The latest series, Power Rangers: RPM, which debuted on March 7, 2009 marks the Power Rangers seventeenth consecutive season on broadcast television. According to some published reports, Power Rangers may not return for an eighteenth season but that hasn’t been confirmed or denied.


Power Rangers RPM 1RPM finds the Power Rangers on a mission to save the world. A computer virus called Venjix has taken over the world and the RPM Power Rangers are determined to protect the city of Corinth, the last human outpost from destruction. The crew consists of Scott Truman (a.k.a. “Ranger Red”), the group’s leader, Flynn McAllistair (a.k.a. “Ranger Blue”), is the technologically gifted member of the group, Summer Landsdown (a.k.a. “Ranger Yellow), is a skilled combatant and proficient at martial arts, Ziggy Grover (a.k.a. “Ranger Green”), is clumsy and silly but has a big heart, Dillion (a.k.a. “Ranger Black”), is a bit pf a loner but doesn’t hesitate to help when he senses someone’s in danger and Gem and Gemma (a.k.a. “Gold” and “Silver”) are twin brother and sister, respectively.

The first five episodes of the series are included on this DVD set:

4. “Go For the Green”
5. “Handshake”

If your kids are a fan of the series, they’ll likely enjoy the DVD set. There are no special features, but the A/V Quality is solid and shouldn’t elicit any complaints from younger set.
